Chairperson – Joe Reidy

Joe Reidy is a well-established local business man based on Parliament Street in Kilkenny. Joe is also a former elected representative of Kilkenny Borough Council and has served as Deputy Mayor of the city. Joe has a deep knowledge of the city and brings great business expertise to the table.

Secretary – Seamus Reade

Seamus is a native of Kilkenny city and following a 41 year career with Bank of Ireland has now retired back to Kilkenny. Seamus has been involved in amateur theatre for the past 20 years notably with Kilkenny Musical Society. He has stage managed most of the Society productions in this time and was nominated for AIMS awards in Stage Management category for Carousel(2000) and Michael Collins(2014). He has also stage managed a number of Watergate pantomimes. He is also a member of AIST (Association of Irish Stage Technicians). Seamus is also heavily involved in Kilkenny GAA where, as Event Controller, he is responsible for the staging of major games in Nowlan Park. He holds a Certificate in Event Control. He also has extensive experience in the Public Relations area having served as Kilkenny GAA PRO from 2013 to 2017. He was voted 2017 National PRO of the Year by the Gaelic Writers Association.

Andrew McGuinness

Andrew McGuinness is an elected member of Kilkenny County Council representing the City. He is a former Mayor of the city and currently Vice Chairman of the Council.
Outside of politics Andrew has a background in music and entertainment and is a former journalist.

Breda Cashe

Breda Cashe is one of Ireland’s leading theatre producers. Over the past twenty years she has produced shows all over Ireland including The Gaiety and Olympia theatres in Dublin and internationally in the West End, the UK, Australia, Singapore and France.

Dermot Gaynor

Dermot retired in 2006 from a senior management position after a 34 year banking career. His frontline experience included managing two branches and 35 staff, for 10 years. He also specialised in HR and organisational change, retiring from the position of Head of Management Development and Learning in Bank of Ireland’s Retail Division (comprising 10,000 staff).

In 2008 he took up the role of Chief Executive of a new company in Kilkenny which established The Watershed, a large fitness and leisure facility. In this role he developed the business plan, recruited the staff and established the many operating procedures, internal controls and customer service standards. He guided and oversaw what has become a thriving business for it’s initial ten years.

Over the years, Dermot has mentored and advised numerous and various businesses and continues to do so.

Dermot is a Business Studies graduate of UL and holds a MSc in Management from TCD.

Ian Hamilton

Ian Hamilton is a Master Brewer , and Fellow of the Institute Of Brewing and Distilling .

After over 12 years overseas with Guinness , mainly in Africa Ian returned in 2001 to Kilkenny as Head Brewer in the Smithwick’s brewery . Since leaving Diageo in  2014 he has provided Brewing consultancy  to several firms ,notably the  re-established Sullivan’s Brewing Company (1702) , and continues to tutor  brewing students both here and internationally .

Medb Lambert

Medb Lambert is a theatre artist based in Co. Kilkenny, with extensive experience as a director, producer and designer. Medb brings to the board expertise on contemporary Irish theatre in the wider context, and on social inclusion in the arts.

As Artistic Coordinator of Equinox Theatre Company at KCAT Arts Centre in Callan, Medb is at the forefront of international best practice in Inclusive Arts.

Recent producing and directing credits for the company include The M House at the Lyric in Belfast, and The Dublin Theatre Festival (the first Irish inclusive theatre company to be presented at the festival).


As Co-Artistic Director of Asylum Productions, her work has been presented nationally and internationally,- including The Big Chapel (with Kilkenny Arts Festival and the Abbey Theatre), which she co-adapted and designed.

She also produced an international tour for the award winning Circo Islu by Catalan based company McBride and Sons.

Fidelis Doherty

Elected to Kilkenny County Council in June 2009, re elected in May 2014 and May 2019 and has served on the Board of Directors of the Watergate Theatre Kilkenny since June 2014.
